Interracial dating is one of the areas of modern living which you would expect to be widely accepted without the many questions popping up, but unfortunately, it isn’t. The reality is that relationships between blacks and whites have been with us for centuries, a fact that cannot be wished away. As a black man who has fallen in love with a white girl, there are misconceptions and assumptions you will have to face. This is primarily because of the historical and cultural differences which have been ingrained to the different segments of the society.
First is the question of fitting in where you both have to find a balance in seamlessly integrating different backgrounds and cultures. While today the marginal differences between cultures are slowly being bridged this is one of the areas surrounded by a lot of misconceptions. Truth is it does not matter what your friends and family think, any perceived or actual differences that arise from being black can be overcome. Plus what is the worst outcome that can ever come out of two adults who are ready to walk the journey of life and love together?
Another reality that you must also be ready to face is society stereotyping. Go around and listen to conversations where extremists both from the black and white community pass their judgments, and you will be surprised. It could be the label given to you because of not choosing to date from the black community or the crazy trophy comparison where you are trying to stand out from the crowd. Whichever the case, there is no way to simply put a permanent stop to all the ideologies and perceptions different groups of people have out there. All in all, the battle is in your field and if love is the motivator for dating a white girl no amount of judgments and suggestions can stop you from being truly happy.
